The Scientific Notebook

You will need to use Scientific Notebook to read the files on this site. You can also view the files with Scientific Workplace. You can download viewer software that will allow you to view Scientific Notebook files online. There is no charge for the viewer. You can also download a time-locked, 30-day free trial sample of the Scientific Notebook. There is no charge for the first 30 days, but the software will no longer function beyond the 30-day time limit.

Configuring Netscape to Read Scientific Notebook Files

Once you have Scientific Notebook installed, you need to complete the following steps to configure your Netscape browser to launch Scientific Notebook when you click on the project links.

1. Select General Preferences on the Options menu in Netscape.
2. Select the Helpers tab in the Preferences dialog box.
3. Scroll and select application/x-tex in the File type box.
4. Click the radio button next to Launch the Application.
5. Click the Browse button and find and select scinoteb.exe in the Scientific Notebook folder.
6. Scroll and select application/x-rap in the File type box. If you can't find it you need to create a new type: A. Click the Create New Type button; B. Enter the word 'application' (without quotes) for the Mime Type, and enter the characters 'x-rap' (without quotes) for the Mime Sub Type; C. Click the OK button.
7. Click the radio button next to Launch the Application.
8. Click the Browse button and find and select scinoteb.exe in the Scientific Notebook folder.
9. Click OK to close the dialog box.
